More about our new name: Basker

In recent years, we’ve welcomed several organisations into our childcare family – each with its own unique identity. In the already broad landscape of childcare providers, many with similar names, this can sometimes cause confusion. We experienced this ourselves. That got us thinking: who are we together? What do we value? How can we support children and parents even better? And how can we stand out more clearly?

To explore this, we conducted various studies and spoke with parents, colleagues and experts. We looked at how things are going at our locations – what’s working well and what could be improved. We saw dedicated teams, lots of personal attention, and children who truly feel at home. That’s something we’re proud of.

At the same time, we noticed that working under four different names often leads to duplicated efforts. That takes time and energy – time we’d rather spend on what really matters: the children, their families and our teams.

That’s why we’ve chosen to move forward as one organisation, with one face, one story and one new name: Basker.

Will my childcare location stay the same?

Yes, your child will continue attending the same familiar location. The only changes will be visual – such as new signage, colours and elements from the new Basker brand identity. We’ll introduce these gradually, with care for visibility and accessibility, and with as little impact as possible on daily routines.

Will anything change for the staff?

The colleagues you and your child know and trust will continue working as they always have. The only change is the name under which they do so. Their dedication, approach and care will remain exactly as you’re used to.

What’s happening to the brands/labels?

We’re bringing together the strengths of Zein, Zonnekinderen and BLOS under one new name: Basker. This means we’ll operate with one clear identity and one shared story – allowing us to communicate more clearly and focus even more on what truly matters: the children, their families and our teams.

We’re keeping what works well. Zein will continue as Basker International Childcare, maintaining its international character and expertise, and continuing to meet the specific needs of the families who rely on it.

Our partnerships with Integrated Child Centres (IKCs), as known from Zonnekinderen, will also remain a visible and important part of Babilou Family Nederland – now under the Basker name.

Our Christian label BijdeHandjes will keep its name and identity. We believe it’s important that colleagues, children and families who consciously choose a Christian environment continue to feel at home.

Lastly, the corporate name Babilou Family Nederland will remain unchanged. It continues to be the umbrella under which we grow and build together.
